Titration
« on: December 06, 2008, 01:58:28 PM »
I did an experiment titrating 0.2 M NaOH into ?M HCl to find the molarity of the acid. I used a burette and pipette for the base and acid and use phenolphthalein as an indicator. Now i need to find sources of error and ways to improve the accuracy of the experiment.

I already have a few: splashing during the dripping of NaOH into the HCl, and difficulty identifying the endpoint, however, i need more.

I would appreciate any responses confirming mine or adding new errors and improvements. If u need clarification, just ask, just post even if your unsure

Thanks in advance ;D

You should look at your procedures again to determine the possible sources of error, and once you have identified it, it is easy to improve the accuracy of the experiment

For splashing error, it looks fine but why is it difficult to identify the end point, can it be more specified?

some hints: What do you rinse your pipette and burette with? What happened if you put too much indicator?(although it doesn't affect reading much) and many more..
No matters what results are waiting for us, it's nothing but the DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!
