Two of the reactions which occur in the production of iron are:

(Step 1) Carbon is burned in a limited supply of oxygen to form carbon monoxide.
(Step 2) The carbon monoxide formed in Step 1 is used to reduce iron(III) oxide to metallic iron and carbon dioxide.

Calculate the mass (in kg) of O2 needed to produce 100 kg of Fe.

(I got 85.41 kg of O2 would be needed to produce 100 kg of Fe by multiplying the molar mass of O2 (32) and moles of O2 (2684.19 - found by 3/2 x 1789.26 (moles of Fe) but I don't believe its correct

You need to start with two separate reaction equations - one for calculating amount of CO required, one for calculating amount of O2 required to produce CO.
