Title: Stiochiometry

Nitric Acid and zinc react to form zinc nitrate, ammonium nitrate, and water. how many atoms of zinc react with 1.49g of nitric acid?

Is this the correct way to the skeleton key? HNO3 + Zn ---> ZnNO3+ NH3 +H2O

Can someone please help me out? Im really stuck on Stiochiometry.

Not quite.

You have ammonia in the products, but your description call for ammonium nitrate.

Also, your zinc nitrate product is wrong. The nitrate ion has a charge of -1, Zn typically forms a +2 charge in ionic compounds. You must balance the charge and make them neutral (add more nitrate ion, how much more?).

You should balance this reaction
HNO3 + Zn ---> Zn(NO3)2+ NH4NO3 +H2O
