Post by: JMan on March 11, 2005, 04:23:49 AM
looking for referEnce to establish Freezing point of water / methanol / and Salt solution
I found this amuzing link

http://www.satelliteindustries.com/tips_tools/p2.htm

but woule like to know how to estimat ethe freezing point of
KCl ( 4 % ) + (20 % ) Methanol in water
thanks

i am just guessing:

4% KCl is negligible compare to the rest of the mixture, so an estimate of the freezing point can be found by using raoult's law for the mixture of water and methanol. I will readjust the mass % by converting the previous 96% to 100%. so i have a mixture of 20.8% methanol and 79.2% water.
