Can you burn gasoline to form nox witch can then be condensed with the other impurities to make dilute nitric acid witch could then be purified to make 63% nitric acid (by way of heating till smelling nitric vapors) it would make since that nox could be produced by burning gasoline because it came from organic compounds witch would have amino acids in it witch would create burn and create the nox

That's far from the most efficient way of making it. I doubt you could make Nitric Acid to that concentration using that method, but you probably shouldn't be using nitric acid at that concentration in the first place. ;)

Mitch raises a good point. Why do you need nitric acid to that concentration?
Anyways, there's probably a way to do it with saltpetre, (Potassium Nitrate, KNO3) since, when dissolved in water, you've already got the nitrate ions (nitric acid is HNO3). Just have to remove the Potassium ions and replace them with hydrogen ions. Did someone say, ion exchange?
Look up cation exchange somewhere (Cations are ions with a positive charge, like K+). I'm not sure what category it'd be under in these forums...probably under general chemistry...Do a search or something.
If this procedure is faulty, someone holla back.

Oh I know many ways to create nitric acid I just think it would be cool to make it from gasoline because it seems like a fun project
Here is a few ways to make HNO3
[A little to specific for our audience]~Mitch
And there are a lot more ways
So who thinks it will work I am afraid of the nitrogen not burning
Well I do not want to start another thread but has anyone heard of making KNO3 from rain and something like rotting wood I don’t know I heard it some were

Why would you want to *make* saltpeter? It's one of the most common substances known to man. It's readily available for $5 a pound or less. The only reason I can think of to do it would be to remove the paper-trail (terrorism, anybody?), since I doubt "distilling" rotting wood and rain water (or whatever you're talking about) would be cool or entertaining in any way. In other words, since it can't be the means that interest you, it must be the ends.
Please, if you want dangerous, useless, and stupid terrorist info, look in the anarchist's cookbook or something. How do I know you shouldn't be messing around with this stuff? Because all the people here who know what they're doing use proper spelling, punctuation (not a single comma or period, in either post!), and grammar.
Please Mitch, lets get rid of this string and start talking about more serious stuff, like nuclear batteries or something. ;)
