Hi. :) How do I know which substance, between CH3CH2OH (liquid) and CH3OCH3 (liquid) at the same conditions of pressure and temperature, has a higher value of entropy ?
My answer would be CH3OCH3 (liquid) since both have the same molar mass but CH3OCH3 has weaker intermolecular forces compared to CH3CH2OH.
Is this right ?

The less organised the molecule, or the more disordered, the more is its entropy
Ethanol has intermolecular H-bonding, so we can expect it to be more organised than dimethyl ether. Hence it probably has less entropy than dimethyl ether
So I would say that you are correct

Thanks. :)
Another question: why does diamond have a higher value of entropy than graphite ?

What values do you have?
Where do you get your data from?
