Title: Intramolecular thioacetal formation
Post by: davidenarb on August 14, 2014, 04:43:20 PM
hello,

if a compound contain both carbonyl group and a -SH group, will a theoacetal be formed ?
I know that the answer is yes for hydroxyl group (formation of acetal). but I am asking with the -SH group

thanks

My previous example is a thiohemiacetal.  Sorry about any confusion.

Well from davidenarb's question it sounds like he means a compound with a single SH, so a thiohemiacetal is the right example! :)
