I'm writing a paper about chemical warfare. One of the agents I'm looking into is mustard gas.
A part of the question is to look at the structure and point out various relevant areas. The carbons are linked with a single bond. However, I'm not sure if this is to be considered as two alkyls deriving from ethane or something different? I mean, on one hand it's not missing ONE but TWO hydrogens, however the name for mustard gas is chlorethyl, which means it has to be an alkyl of some sort?
