Four optical oxygen sensors were prepared via immobilization of an oxygen
indicator (a palladium(II) porphyrin with luminescence decay time t0 = 1 ms or
a platinum(II) porphyrin with luminescence decay time t0 = 50 µs) into a
polymeric matrix (polystyrene with oxygen permeability P = 1.9 x10-13 cm-2 s-1 Pa
or ethylcellulose with oxygen permeability P = 6.6 x 10-13 cm-2 s-1 Pa). Which
sensor (platinum(II) porphyrin in polystyrene; palladium(II) porphyrin in
ethylcellulose ; palladium(II) porphyrin in polystyrene; platinum(II) porphyrin in
ethylcellulose ) is the most sensitive and which one is the least sensitive and
why?
I have no idea in which direction I should be thinking. How can I decide which one is more sensitive? All I know that the Permeability is equal to Diffusion coeff * solubity. How do I extract information out of this?
