Can someone double check my answers?
« on: November 05, 2019, 03:38:55 PM »
I have this reaction of a diazonium salt (p-nitroaniline) was coupled with a phenol (2-napthol) to produce para red dye.

I am being asked to draw a complete mechanism for the synthesis of para red.

Here is my complete mechanism, is this all good guys?

Second question is that I am also being asked to explain why coupling of p-nitrobezne diazonium chloride occurs mainly at the position that is para to the -n(ch3)2 group of N,N-dimethylaniline but ortho to the -oh group of 2-napthol

Heres is my answer to this second question, this sounder okay or should I add something?
