Identifying functional groups and their molecular formulas

My question is about identifying functional groups of unknown samples.

If an unknown sample which I have identified as an alcohol has the molecular formula of C2H7O and is oxidised by a sample which is a carboxylic acid. What is the molecular formula of the carboxylic acid?

First C2H7O is not existing. Check again first.
To calculate alcohol to carboxylacid what you have to remove and what to add.
