Hello
Is it nonsense to point out and balance this reaction?
2e-+MnO2=>MnO3+OH-
My proposal is:
Valency +4:
2e-+MnO2+2H2O=>[H2MnO4]-2=>MnO3+2OH-
I cannot make sense and balance
I'm triyng to make sense of one paragraph of my texbook:
"The standard alkaline battery uses Zn and MnO2. KOH separates them. OH- ions react with Zn electrode to produce Zn(OH)2 and free electrons. These electrons move through an electrical circuit to return to the MnO2 electrode, where they react , to produce MnO3 and OH- ions. Both these chemical reactions produce a difference in potential voltage about 1,5V between both electrodes"
Thanks
