Solubility of compound A @25ºC = 0.24g / 100mL water
" " @100ºC: 6.35g / 100 mL water
What is the maximum possible yield of recrystallized pure compound A in water?
Would the max yield literally just be 6.35 - 0.24 = 6.11g? As a percentage, 6.11/6.35 = 96.22%.
If there were impurities in the substance, I think I would also need to be given the amount of starting materials (ex. 5g compound A, 1g impurity B), and the solubility of impurity B at 25 & 100ºC.
Is what I'm saying right? I'm trying to gauge whether I actually know what's going on before I submit my prelab assignment lol. Thanks for any help.
