I did a titration lab to calculate the concentration of ascorbic acid in orange juice. The last question is
<b>"what happens to the ascorbic acid in orange juice over time?(HINT: oxygen makes up 20% of air)"</b>
From my results with the lab the ascorbic acid decreases in orange juice over time.
my question is why? I think it decreases because the oxygen in air oxidizes the ascorbic acid, which leads to the breakdown of C6H8O6 (ascorbic acid).
Is there more to this question, how could I go deeper into an explanation?
