Oxycodone synthesis

Hi everyone! For one of my chem assignments we have to take a compound and write out the synthesis in detail and explain verbally a breakdown of each step.
I chose one of the semi-synthetic opioids—oxycodone—. I’m really confused on what to do following hydrogenation. It’s says to wash with water and dry over sodium sulfate in vacuo. Please help me!!

I am afraid discussing practicalities of the synthesis will be against our forum rules. No problems with discussing reaction mechanism though.
