Why is it B?
and not A? A gives a tertiary carbocation then Cl can just simply attack it ? B doesnt make any sense to me.

Ok I just noticed the solution but i wont ask for mods to remove it , maybe someone needs it in the future.
it's a ring expansion question, its just confusing cause the quartenary carbon in the middle looks like its bonded downward but if u look close enough, they are not touching :/ jeez

α-pinene reacts differently with HCl depending on the condition.
