Experiment: Tin hedgehog
« on: March 06, 2021, 08:11:21 AM »
SnCl2 (aq) + Zn (s) → Sn (s) + ZnCl2 (aq)

I would like to ask what is the concentration of SnCl2 and what amounts of chemicals I need to make this experiment?
I have searched on Google for a couple of hours and all I found are these websites:
1.https://www.compoundchem.com/2016/04/13/tin-hedgehog/
2.https://melscience.com/AU-en/chemistry/experiments/tin-hedgehog/

In fact, amounts are not important, more important is the patience of the experimenter.
The reasonable concentration of SnCl2 is given in your first link.
Be sure to use granulated zinc (2-3 pellets).
