TEA (triethanolamine) contaminated with Ethyl acrylate.
« on: May 28, 2021, 08:17:38 AM »
Hello there,

We have a batch of TEA but it is contaminated with the previous cargo. This being ethyl acrylate, ppb is enough to cause some odour. We would really like to get rid of this odour. I know gaseous acrylates can be mediated by activated carbon. I have looked into ion-exchange resins as well, since we do not want to alter the specs of this pure component, but I don’t seem to find a suitable solution.

Anyone has an idea how to get rid of this odour w/o altering the specifications of TEA?

Thanks in advance for your help.

(ps: just joined so forgive me if this post is misplaced).

Cheers,
D

Not easy to remove all, distillation is probably best.
