Polar or not ?
« on: April 14, 2022, 05:52:36 PM »
Hi,

Are these molecules considered polar or non polar ? And how would you rate them from the least polar compound to the most polar compound?

- Barbituric Acid
- Isobarbituric Acid
- 5-fluorouracil
- Urea

Thanks,

Sorry I didn't read the rules so I didn't explain myself before. I've already tried finding the answer myself but I'm still confused, I think they're polar molecules, but what confuses me is that to analyze them a reverse phase column is used in chromatography, and this type of column is usually used for non polar molecules. So I just wanted to have someone else's opinion, to make sure that they're polar molecules or if I'm mistaken and they're actually non polar ?
