Inorganic Chem Ligand Splitting Help
« on: November 27, 2021, 12:13:43 AM »
Hey guys im not sure if what i have for this is worth 12 marks so im just checking here to make sure that i included everything that i could have for this part

Consider the following metal ion d-electron configuration and crystal field in octahedral complexes:
(i) d6
strong field (ii) d5 weak field; (iii) d6 weak field; (iv) d5
strong field.

b) Draw completely labelled energy level diagrams showing crystal field splitting of the
d orbitals relative to the spherical field, for each configuration, (12 marks)

You should be able to upload direct from your computer; or maybe type the question out to help searches and accessibility.

What about the pairing in (iv)? (And, to be pedantic, the spelling of "field")

What about ? It is good for d5 in strong octahedral field.
