What uranium ore could this ore containe?
« on: October 27, 2021, 03:33:09 PM »
Hi
A few weeks ago I found this radioactive ore in the "Schwarzwald" (Black Forest) in Germany. Since i found it i wanted to know what kind of ore it exactly was. I now strongly suggest it being Uranium because when I tried to dissolve it in 50% Sulfuric acid the acid was slightly fluorescing under ultraviolet light. The ore itself however shows no signs of fluorescens. Does anyone know what ore this might be or how to find out?
Thanks in advance.

I am a complete noob on this. But looks like sedimentary rock, and I say that because it seems to contain a bunch of bad-fitted particles, and then just got compressed enough to become a rock.

But most of the minerals and stuff can be looked up at mindat.org and they have a discussion forum where you can get help identifying stuff.

Here is just my noob thought, but if it was uranium, it should glow regardless of sulfuric acid or not. So I would say it isn't.
