Can i remove mineral spirit from rubber that was soaked in it?
« on: December 24, 2022, 07:10:01 AM »
Hi.

If a piece of rubber(lets say 2cm^3 cube)was dipped
in mineral spirits(mineral turpentine type 1)and now
the rubber is absorbed with the mineral spirits,
Can i remove all the mineral spirit that the rubber absorbed?
How can it be removed from the inside of the rubber?
I know that mineral spirit, type 1,has at least 25% aromatic
,0.1% benzene, all kinds of other bad materials and it leaves
all sort of residues even after evaporated.
I was trying to wash it with dish soap and hot water,i left it to air out
for couple of days, but it still has the mineral spirit odor, which i assume it means that the mineral spirits was not removed.
Any advice?

Put it at warm temperature 40 °C  in a vaccuum Chamber.

Hi Hunter2.
Is there another simple way to do that?
The vacuum chamber is a simple way,but i don't have one.
