A family mamber has a house that was previously in a lava zone and was subject to lots of sO2 and whatever other trace gasses were spewed out along with it. The the lava, along with the so2, is no longer being spewed in the area so my family member would like to move back to the area. The atmosphere caused quite a bit of rust damage but beyond that the rest of the house seems ok.
Is there anything they need to worry about such as sO2 binding to or some how off gassing from the sheetrock after being absorbed? or would something like a coat of paint be enough to contain any potential contamination from the house?
There is no advice online about things like this because happen so rarely, so I figured this would be a good place to ask.
Thank you in advance!
