I am studying for an upcoming exam and using past exams for practice. I've stumbled across a synthesis question that I am unsure about. I've attached it to this post. Since the process is three steps, I've come up with the following:
1. React OH with SOCl2 in pyridine to replace the OH with Cl.
2. Perform a Grignard reaction using Mg, ether and then H3O+.
3. Dehydrate the alcohol using POCL3 in pyridine.
Is this an adequate answer for this problem? Are there perhaps others that I am unaware of?
