I recently did a reaction with malonitrile and 2,5-dibromo-benzoaldehyde to form an alfa,Betha-Unsaturated molecule. But I'm having problems isolating the product from the viscous fraction. Any advice?

Is the product pure? I would use TLC to check this, the product will stain a permanganate spray or dip very well compared to the starting material so its easy to find it. Then use silica cromathography I think pure EtOAc would be fine the cyano groups are relatively polar
