Doing a research project for school and Im looking for a surfactant blend or type of surfactant that is compatible in a solution of sodium hypochlorite between 3-5%. From what I gathered, the ionic charges when the sodium hypochlorite separates in water creates a lot of electrical activity and can dampen an ionic surfactant from micellular formation. This leads to a reduced ability for the surfactant to a. effectively clean a surface and b. generate a stable foam column.

In addition, sodium hypochlorite has the ability to oxidize many surfactants in key spots on their molecular chains.

So, does anyone have any recommendations on a proper surfactant that could work in this type of solution? If so, in what concentration?

Thannk You all for your input.

Cross posting is against the forum rules and won't help.

In general every dissolved salt diminishes surfactants effectivity, disrupting their interactions which are based on molecules polarity and dipole forces.

Perhaps try to google for surfactants effective in high ionic strengths?

If you want chlorine you can use trichloroisocyanuric acid, this similar to hypochlorite but non ionic, people use this in swimingpools to reduce bacteria
