Various nomenclature questions
« on: April 05, 2004, 06:00:27 PM »
I would appreciate anyones in put about these.  I've tried naming them but I really don't know if I'm off my rocker or not.  Thanks for all of your help.  I truly appreciate it.

you don't include the cyclo prefif for aromatic molecules.

The one on the middle right would be called meta-xylene, just one of those weird names only o-chemist would know.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

If I'm understanding you correctly, then if I take off the cyclo, they should be right? and the one you said in the middle right with the "?" should be named: meta xylene?  If so, I'm pretty proud of myself.  I have been working on these since Friday...as you can tell Chemistry is not my strong point.  but at least I am trying.  I thank you for your help.

Please let me know if I'm not understanding you correctly.  thanks again.
