Hi there,

I'm on a mini project and eager to find out if there are any possible solvents to dissolve acrylate- based polymers (Eg: acrylate oligomer, polymethyl acryate)? I've found ethanol to be able to dissolve them (or sort of), but it takes quite a while (4 days) and i was wondering if you guys know of any better solvents that can speed up the dissolving process?  Thanks in advance!

There will be better solvents than ethanol for your polymer.  I expect that acetone will be much better and also THF which will be even better still.  THF is a bit expensive and not very nice I think but it is one of the best for dissolving polymer.

You could slightly warm your alcohol and stir it - this will help dissolution happen faster, but if it's taking 4 days try acetone as I said or failing that THF.

Toluene may also work well.
