Hello,
Iam working in ammonia refrigeration plants.Can anyone tell how to detect ammonia gas leak from any flange/fitting/valve glands (by using simple tecnique like introducing a rod dipped with HCL,etc.. near the leaky area)Any suggestions?

Hello vijayppt,

Along with Boreks suggetion, you could take regular litmus paper, and wet it in distilled water.  When you place the water-wet litmus paper over the leak, the pH will increase (turning the litmus paper blue).  The paper must be wet in order for this to work.
