Radicals & Ions-difference.

Can we regard radicals & ions as the same.If not,how radicals differ from ions?.Thanks.

Ions have charges.  Radicals do not necessarily have charges (e.g. the chlorine radical is neutral).

Radicals have unpaired electrons, ions usually do not have unpaired electrons (in fact, most atoms become charged in order to avoid having unpaired electrons).

Sometimes you can form compounds which are radicals and ions (e.g. in a mass spec this occurs) but these compounds are generally short lived.
