hi guys in need help asap plz

i was given the hypothesis of an experiment such that
 
Hypothesis- The energy value of an alcohol depends on the number of carbon atoms it contains.
 How could i test the hypothesis , what apparatus

hi people - well my ideas is ThaT we
use  1 mole of ethanol and react it with 1  mole of HCL findin the temperature change using a thermometer  and knowing mass of solution and SHc heat evolved equation this will give us the energy value


am i correct ?
