Chemistry Software.
« on: January 19, 2007, 08:00:37 PM »
Hello ,
I teach a chem. AP class, and in need a of a chemistry software that draws 2d molecular structures when you type in a formula.  I need it to be able to show the number of bonds and such.  It would also be nice if it also draws the lewis- dots, lone pairs, etc.  I aslo don't want to have to manually draw them.  Can anyone list some software?  Price is not a problem as long as the program is well-known, and free-ware would be nice but not absolutely neccessary.
Thanks, Eng.

I don't know about Lewis structures, but this will help you get started.

As you know, there are many possible structural isomers from the same molecular formula, so I'm not sure what you're requesting is totally possible.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex
