« on: February 14, 2007, 02:15:21 PM »
hi every body.
i wanted to ask you if lets say we have a molucule lets say carbon dioxide or any other. what in a chemical reaction would make the oxigen or carbon or any other mulocule combine with other molucule? lets say for instance suger and sulferic acid waht makes the sulferic acid take the oxigens and hydogens from carbon. and why?
thanks so much

The answer to your question is:
Chemistry.

You just asked one of the fundamental question people study chemistry for; and it is many levels of answers and varies from compound to compound.

As a side note, if you ever have concentrated sulfuric acid around. I recommend you add some to a little bit of sugar. It's a cool reaction. Keep in mind concentrated acids are dangerous, and this reaction is highly exothermic.
