Separation of ethanol and phenol

If I have a solution containing ethanol and phenol , how can I separate them?

Well, there is a very large difference in their boiling points. Maybe that will start you in the right direction.

Phenols are tricky in distillation, they are very volatile even below their bp. Phenol itself can be steam-distilled with water. So I would rather follow AWK's suggestion.

How would extracting with aqueous sodium hydroxide work?  Ethanol is soluble in water as well.

Phenol is not very soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons. You could add some hexane and cool the solution and the phenol may crystallise out (m.p. = 40-43 deg C). you could then collect it by filtration. Of course you then need to separate the hexane and ethanol.
