Hi,
Anyone know why we using reduced mass instead of average mass in spectroscopy related equation ?Is it because derivation from the moment of inertia and the spectroscopy related equation are related to reduced mass too?

reduced mass strictly follows from the mathematical derivation
two balls connected with a spring behave the same way as one ball with the reduced mass of those two
