I'm thinking 4-carboxythiobutanoic acid can anyone confirm or help?

Actually i'mk using the old-style common names in this figure, so to keep it consistent I've gone for 1-thiomalate?

I suggest you get this freeware, it will provide all of your naming needs.  As long as the compound is no more than 50 atoms of course.

As g english suggested, get chemdraw, its free.

ChemSketch names it 4-mercapto-4-oxobutanoic acid.
