I need to write a complete, balanced chemical equation for the reaction that occurs between sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and magnesium chloride (MgCl2). (Note: The reaction takes place in water)

I think the answer is:

NaOH(s) + MgCl2 (s) --> MgOH (i) + NaCl2 (aq)

Is this correct?

I'm really new to chemistry, please excuse my ignorance.

that is better also i think you should have Mg(OH)₂

now balance the equation
