Fatty acid degradation
« on: April 29, 2007, 02:23:38 PM »
Hey there
Does anyone have links to omega and omega-1 oxidation of fatty acids handy?
I would really appreciate if you could post them as it's very hard to find them on the internet.
Thanks

What type of oxidation?  Do you mean how are these fatty acids oxidized by enzymes in the cell or are you asking about chemical means to oxidize these fatty acids?

Any good biochemistry text (for example, Voet & Voet or Lehninger) will cover fatty acid oxidation in a good amount of detail.  If you don't have access to a biochem text, then wikipedia may suffice:

If you have any further questions about the steps, feel free to ask.
