I have just read brian greenes books and am wondering if there is one like that in chemistry. It probably cant have too much advanced math though im only in 8th grade (I know there is a book section on the site but I don't wanna have to buy all the books to see which I don't uderstand.)

You will have to be a little more specific, he has written a lot of book.

Also, are you looking for more of a "text book", or more of a narrative/discussion book?

no i don't want a textbook but i want a book thats relatively cheap and goes over most of the ideas of chemestry without being less than like 200 pages im wondering if the book general chemistry would be good (written in 1988 has near 1000 pages)

The book titled "general chemistry" sounds an awful lot like a text book, especially with 1000 pages. Which is perfectly fine. And from 1988 is perfectly fine. The only thing of any real consequence it might not have it is is C60/Fullerene. But that is no big deal. Any newer general chemistry book would me more then likely to have prettier pictures and come with an interactive CD, but that would be the only major difference.

Hrmm.. I hear Schaum's Outlines are good self-teaching books and they are very cheap.  Here is a link to general chemistry.

8th grade....geez.
