In an aldol reaction, what two molecules are condensed to produce PhCH=CHCOPh?

first break C=C bond....you can tell from the product whats driving this rxn..this an adol reaction (has a special name) so you should be able to figure out which starting reagents are needed

In aldol condensation,
Breaking C=C, And add O and H respectively!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldol_condensation

PhCH = CHCOPh = PhCH=O + CH2COPh
                           PhCH2 + O = CHCOPh (not feasible!)

Is it simple? I am not teaching you to get the answer, but what important is you should know the mechanism first, then all things are easy!
