Triphenylphosphine mechanism
« on: May 28, 2007, 04:52:05 PM »
I was wondering how I would go about starting this mechanism.  Does the Ph3P add first, or does it first accept the e- from say one of the alcohols?

it attacks the azo bond first.

NB: it is an example of a name reaction too, a very popular one.
