pH Indicators?

I just wanted to know why such a small amount (2-3 drops) of indicator is used during titrations. Does it have to do with lowering the pH of the overall solution if a large amount is added since more is dissociated and proton amounts increase?

I imagine it's because you don't need to use anymore.  If a few drops works, why would you add more?  Chemicals cost money, you know!  ::)
