How do you find the pH of soil using a pH meter.
« on: September 03, 2007, 12:47:24 AM »
I have a method but i'm not sure if it's a good one.

I mix and the soil with water, and then filter the water. I use the pH meter to find the pH of the filtered water (with soil residue).

I tried measuring the pH of water. Then the pH of filtered water....and found the difference between the two. but the difference is only like 2 pH levels...meaning the pH of the soil is 2?

thanks for your help

pH of soil is that of filtered water. That's only approximation, but as long as the procedure is closely followed your results are comparable to the results of others and they are useful as such.
