Distributed computing - BOINC
« on: September 10, 2007, 04:23:26 PM »
Has anybody here worked on distributed computing problems before?

I am starting work on a project to set up a distributed computing project to study cell adhesion and migration.  We plan to use some Berkeley software named BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing, or such) as the basis for our program.
(Several other distributed systems use BOINC, Seti@home (searching for aliens) and Rosetta@home (protein structures) both use it as well.)

Does anybody have any general advice on distributed computing?

Does anybody have advice on where I can go to learn about the protein folding molecular dynamics models?
