No.
Because when it gets down to crunch time and we are very super low on fossil fuels we will stop with the ridiculous taxes and fees and crap on Nuclear power, so it is then cost effective.
The only reason Nuclear power is not the main source of energy in the US is due to the extra cost due to government regulations and such put into place to appease voters who have no clue about how nuclear power plants work and think they are horribly dangerous and bad because the nuclear bomb has nuclear in its name. And the small amount of waste it makes can be used for naughty.
Once ~100% of or energy is coming from nuclear power and renewable fuel sources and we have more then we need, we can then use the extra "clean" energy on producing hydrogen from water to run fuel cells or straight up hydrogen burning cars.
You can then use all that energy to make all the solar cells, gas turbines, tidal wave generators, more hydroelectric dams, etc etc.
We are not going to wake up one day and be out of oil or energy. We will eventually run out, and I think we should make it last as long as possible since it makes life easier, but I call crap.
Nothing to see here, move along.
But if there is an apocalypse, we as chemist are the most perfect suited to survive and repopulate the world.
