Hey guys back again
I'm SO confused today with Binary Molecular Compounds...
In my book (Chem: The Central Science) the heading says "Names and Formulas of Binary Molecular Compounds" and an example is Cl
2O and it's name is dichlorine monoxide, another example is P
4S
10 being called tetraphosphorus decasulfide...
On a worksheet labled Binary Ionic Compounds, barium fluoride is labeled BaF
2 and Na
3N is labeled Sodium Nitride!
But I thought all binaries are named using the prefixes...Whats going on? Is there some rules I'm ignoring?
Thanks alot
