We did some experiments about water and its characteristics last week.
Now I have to write a lab report.
I got stuck at the question
11. Does pouring ice water over the flask increase, decrease, or leave unaffected the pressure of the water vapor in the flask?
Here is what happened:
A glass flask of half-filled water was prepared and warmed up on a hot plate. It was then attached to the iron stand setup. The flask was closed tightly with a stopper. Next, a 400ml beaker of cold water was poured outside the flask. As we observe, the water inside the flask BOIL .. ...so thats how we have the question.
why doesn't the stopper get blown out?
Wat happens if we pour hot water outside of the flask?
Please help us, thanks a lot.
