Stereogenic centers vs. chirality centers
« on: October 22, 2007, 03:03:57 AM »

Can someone explain this to me? I've always thought that chirality centers mean the same thing as sterogenic centers and they must be sp3 carbons with 4 different substituents. But here, they have marked sp2 carbons as stereogenic centers.

Nevermind...I just read that stereocenter can also be a double-bonded carbon in cis-trans alkene.
