I saw the movie "No Country For Old Men" a few days ago and I started to wonder about the feasibility of what the hitman character was doing.  Is it actually possible to blow through a deadbolt lock with a 2 L gas cylinder?  With the references to cow slaughter by the Tommy Lee Jones character, I assume that a metal piston was aimed at the deadbolt lock.  Good movie, but I have a few nagging questions about the authenticity.

I am not sure how you are saying it happened in the movie. I am assuming you are not saying they just bashed it with it, but used it as a rocket?

But in one of the MythBusters episode they took a 60L cylinder, and sheared off the tip and it traveled like  something like 20 to 30 feet, went through a cinder block wall, traveled another ~10 feet and went partially through another cider block wall.

Don't know how it worked in the movie, but a full cylinder has a tremendous amount of power, so yes, it's quite realistic to expect it to tear a deadbolt out of the door.
