I emailed this question to random university professors but a55holes wouldn't reply so I though you guys are generous to help understand this:
I have a question. What is the mole really mean? I know it's the Avogadro's Number and it's 6.02 x 10^23, and that the amount of particle that is in 12g of Carbon-12, but what is the significance? So what? Why do we use this as a unit?
And I am bemused in something else, let's say there is a room that has absolutly nothing (no atoms) in it but only has two gas cylinders, one with pure oxygen and the other with pure hydrogen, let's say that they were both released at the same time, would they join together to make water or stay together as H2 and O2? I know temperature plays a role in it but it the temperature was raised, what would happen? What wouldn't happen? Why would that happen?
Thank You.
